It nice but...where is his armor? A true Spartan wouldn't be caught dead without his armor equipped on the battlefield. After all, it would be silly to run around on the battlefield in nothing but a man thong.
Ah, this is an interesting point actually. There are numerous accounts of people in warfare going into battle naked and kicking ass due to the opponents being completely awe struck by them, e.g. Epameinondas of Thebes;
"... He had no arms upon him, and scarcely clothes; he had just anointed himself at home, when, upon the alarm, without further waiting, in that undress, he snatched a spear in one hand, and a sword in the other, and broke his way through the combatants to the enemies, striking at all he met. He received no wound, whether it were that a special divine care rewarded his valor with an extraordinary protection, or whether his shape being so large and beautiful, and his dress so unusual, they thought him more than a man. The Ephors gave him a garland; but as soon as they had done so, they fined him a thousand drachma, for going out to battle unarmed." ~Plutarch, Agesilaus
(He was a crimson badass though - his army crushed Sparta's prominence, from which they never recovered)
But yeah, the man thong thing from 300 is totally missing the point; either armour or nothing xD
Damn, my other examples pretty much count as heroes too (more recently, general butt naked in the Liberian civil war who was successful charging squads with his machette whilst they shot directly at him, though he was a villian rather than a hero).
It's the awe factor that makes them better at facing great odds though - they have to be heroes in the enemy's eyes for it to work. Hence surprise attacks by squads of people in light to no armour vs heavily armed enemies can have the same effect - e.g. Operation Charoit with the Commandos or pretty much anything lead by Jack Churchill (went into battle with a longbow and claymore... against the Nazis in WWII!!)
i absolutely love it! I am considering to use this as a tattoo.
But only if u are ok with that
Thanks for the reply.
